Possible job losses at 888 casino
The publication Panorama announced that in light of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) signed on last October 13, more than 100 emplyees in Gibraltar could receive lay-off notices from the online gaming giant 888 Holdings.
This could be a consequence of reduced business activities in the United States following the new financial law signed by President George W.Bush. Also Gibraltar offices of Party Gaming could have further job losses after the announcement of over 800 lay-off notices at its Indian subsidiary Ivy Computech.
Both Party Gaming and 888.com haven’t commented yet. Both companies are currently dealing potential acquisition with other online gaming companies like Harrah’s, Ladbrokes, and MGM.
